Santa Barbara County ROP/CTE Fact Sheet


The Santa Barbara County ROP/CTE provides high-quality career technical education, career education, career development and workforce preparation to high school students in the Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria communities.

We serve six high school districts in Santa Barbara County.

Each year we educate/train approximately 3,500 students to enter the labor force, or to advance to higher education in a career field.

Over 81% of our courses are articulated or get dual credit with local community colleges.

19 ROP/CTE courses are approved by the UC to meet entrance requirements.

Students in ROP/CTE classes earn credits towards their high school graduation.

Students are taught a rigorous and relevant curriculum integrated with core academic standards.

Eleven ROP/CTE courses meet academic requirements (Math, English, Fine Arts, Economics & Science).

Over 500 students each year are placed in on-the-job training, internships and/or project-based learning opportunities.

All courses are based on current and future labor-market demands.

Students who complete an ROP/CTE courses receive a Certificate of Skills based on industry standards.
 


Business and Industry Partnerships


More than 900 local businesses are partners.

Business partners provide sites for student on the job training and internships.

Business leaders serve on advisory panels and validate curriculum.

Employers may hire students they have helped train.
